RRB ALP 4-Stage Selection Process 2026

Stage 1: First Stage CBT (Screening Test) Qualifying (15x Shortlist)

Exam Pattern: 75 Multiple Choice Questions for 75 Marks in 60 Minutes.
Marking Scheme: Negative marking of 1/3rd (0.33) marks per incorrect attempt.
Shortlisting: Used strictly to filter candidates for CBT-2 (approx. 15 times the category vacancies). Marks not added to final merit.

Stage 2: Second Stage CBT (Part A + Part B) 70% Merit Weightage

Part-A (100 Qs / 90 Mins): Decides the merit rank for CBAT shortlisting. Basic Science & Engineering holds 40 marks.
Part-B (75 Qs / 60 Mins): Mandatory technical trade test. Qualifying score of 35% (26.25 marks) is strictly required for all categories.

Stage 3: CBAT (Computer Based Aptitude / Psycho Test) 30% Merit Weightage

Conducted for candidates who qualify CBT-2 Part-A & Part-B (approx. 8 times the vacancies).
Consists of 5 test batteries. Minimum T-Score of 42 mandatory in each battery (no community relaxation).
There is no negative marking in CBAT. Final appointment merit is prepared as: 70% CBT-2 (Part-A) + 30% CBAT.

Stage 4: Document Verification & A-1 Medical Standard Mandatory Fitness

Medical Standard A-1: Strict Distance Vision of 6/6, 6/6 without glasses (fogging test +2D). Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses.
Must pass Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision, and Night Vision tests.
Candidates who have undergone LASIK surgery or surgical eye alterations are permanently disqualified.
